| I started in wood working making gun stocks many years ago. Since I retired as a senior systems analyst from the oil industry in 1999, I went into wood working full time. Many of my products are made from a wood named poplar. This is a wood found in many lumberyards and has a larger variation in colors than any natural colored wood I have used. The variations are from black, through greys, greens, pinks, purples to ivory. I spend hours looking through miles of boards to find the exceptional items. The color-ply is a man made product and it come in many variations. It can be viewed at www.willardbrothers.net and many of my products are in Gallery 2. It can be reached from my links page. All my segmented bowls are made from a flat board on a ringmaster as are some of the lamps. I saw it at a wood show and was facinated by it. Most lamps are turned on a wood lathe. The glass for the glass lamps is done by a friend from Poland. When time pemits, I will add engraving to some of my products. The Grey Hare come from my name in French. Lapin is a rabbit and I lived in Paris France for three years while working for Schlumberger, a French company. I am old, so I am the old grey hare. So far, all of my products have ended up as gifts to my children, friends and to For Goodness Sake, a store in the North Park Mall that sells items with the proceeds supporting children's organizations. I am pictured above with the Burl of My Dreams (actually a filch). It will soon be a table. Click on my home page above to see my work. |
